Press Release Body: May 2 2002
Millions of users tuned in to their favorite internet radio stations, but they
didn't heard anything rather than a numb silence.

This was in order to mark their protest against recently proposed royalty rate of
one dollar (to the music company) per song they usually broadcast to their
listeners. This rate was proposed by Copyright Arbitration Panel, would directly
effect hundreds of small radio stations and could force many to shut down their
broadcast 's for now and for ever.

Webcasters were proposing that the rate should be set as the percent of their
revenue's, not based on cost per song. The percentage could be anything between 10
percent to 20 percent.

The whole community of webcasters & the online listeners were in a state of penury,
over the consequences of this one dollar per song law getting rectification from the
bench of regulators.

In order to show their anger ,they deluged the street of New York City and brought
the city on a virtual stand still.

Atlast, their effort pay off on May 21,2002, when federal regulators opted to scrap
the whole issue into the bin. The plea for cost per song was withdrawn from the
legislative house and once again all the fears for the future of online radio were
relinquished for ever.
